River Island

After winning the 2019 River Island Bursary, I began working as a Design Assistant on the non-clothing department at River Island. In that position, I was able to work in multiple design areas including Handbags, Footwear, Accessories and Jewellery. Working across these areas allowed me to refine the core customers of River Island and what they expect from the products we make. A key part of my role is researching key trends for our customer and presenting this information back to the non-clothing buying team. I also worked with product technicians to ensure the functional aspects of these products were of a high standard and quality. As a Design Room assistant, it is important that I am familiar with all of the Design teams on non-clothing team and can effectively communicate ideas from one department to the next for consistency within the products I design.
