Whilst working at this company I further developed my ability to communicate with customers to provide and be attentive to their personal needs and request. When starting here i had to familiarise myself with the stock rather quickly as I joined around the start of summer and through the sales period. I also needed to get used to the way that the company dealt with their standards and little details about the clothing items such as particular facts including the reasoning behind the silhouette or the materials used. I learnt that quickly and it further helped me to promote items to customers. I also did a lot of work on the tills and my sales numbers were up with people who had been working at the company for longer than myself.
By working here, I have gained communication skills by working behind the till. It has also helped me to develop problem solving skills when I can not help them or get the product they need. In my time working here I learnt how to also be independent and how to use my own initiative to make positive improvements to customer service. Working here also taught me how to focus on meeting expectations when it came to KPI's and other company goals set in store.
As a sales assistant, it was my duty to return items to the appropriate sections in an orderly manner in order to maintain the shop's appearance and work the tills. As this was my first job it taught me how to effectively conduct myself in a work environment and the responsibilities given. Working in this store gave me independence and further helped me to develop my initiative when it came to working.
In this two-week period, I was given a work experience placement as an engineers workmate/assistant. The primary responsibility of a gas engineer's workmate was to support the principal engineer by mending boilers, conducting gas safety inspections, and providing excellent customer service to clients in their homes.
